Designed by Sergey Pomutin in the 1890’s, they symbolize little mothers. So, the names of these Pomtroyshka, or “nesting dolls” are Sugar Mama (small), Red Hot Mama (smaller), and Mama Mia (smallest). They only talk to other mamas and mothers like Mother Theresa, Mother Hubbard, and Little Miss Mother Ducker (darn autocorrect!)
