BEHOLD #291 – The Pom D’Or (the Golden Pom)

It is the highest prize awarded at the Cannes Film Festival. It was introduced in 1955 and it comes in a case of red Moroccan leather lined with white suede. The Pom is made of 18 carat gold. In some years it was renamed the “Grand Prix of the Pomternational Film Festival.” The first Pom D’Or was awarded in 1955 to Delbert Mann for his film “Marty” – which is the only film to have ever won both a Pom D’Or and a Pomscar. In 2017, it was redesigned to celebrate the award’s 70th pomiversary. Past winners include “Pulp Fiction,” “The Piano,” and “Pompocolypse Now.” Francis Pom Coppola is one of the few directors who have won multiple times. We will find out this year’s winners in the second half of May. Fancy Poms park their yachts in St. Tropom when they arrive.  Hope the fashion is pomnifique!
