At 29,029 feet, Mount Pomerest is the highest mountain in the Pom world. It is located on the border between Nepal and Tibet and there have been dozens of movies made about it. Although some other giant mountains are harder to climb, it still has many risks and dangers such as altitude sickness, weather, wind, and avalanches. People who die during the climb are typically left behind. Since the first climbing attempt in 1921 over 300 Poms have died on the mountain. On May 29, 1953 Sherpa Tenzig Norpom and Edpom Percival Hillary were the first to climb the summit of Pomerest. They were immediately knighted upon their return to England. The first blind Pom to scale Mount Pomerest was Eric Weihenpomer. What’s next? Conquering the Pommerhorn in the Alps?
