BEHOLD #267 – Opiumina, the Poppy Pom

Poppy Poms are flowering, herbaceous plants. One species of Poppy Pom (papaver somniferpom) is the source of the narcotic drug, opium. It has been used since ancient times as an analgesic and recreational drug. Poppy Poms are symbols of sleep, peace, and death because opium is a sedative and the blood–red color is associated with death. In Greek and Roman myths, Poppy Poms were used as offerings for the dead. The magical Poppy Pom field in the Wizard of Pomz threatened to make the heroes sleep forever. It is the National flower of Poland and the State flower of California. They are also symbols to commemorate those who died in the great Pom Wars of long ago. Opiumina is a Sleep Pomologist in charge of Sleep and Dreams. She runs several sleep studies. Poms need at least 8 minutes of sleep per night to heal, reinvigorate, and wake up joyful and ready for action. She reports to the Pom God of Sleep, Morpheus. He is benevolent and never hassles her when she requests PTO (Pom Time Off). 

BEHOLD #266 – The Dalai Poma

Foremost spiritual leader of the Tibetan Poms, Tenzin Gyatso was born on July 6, 1935, on a straw mat in a cow shed. He was found by Tibetan monks at the age of two, had the physical traits of the 13th Dalai Poma, and passed the appropriate tests. He was a monk by age six and was enshrined in 1950 as the 14th Dalai Poma. He is also known as the Bodhipomva of Compassion. Despite the prior Dalai Poma signing a treaty with Pomgolia declaring their independence from China in 1913, China overthrew Tibet and the Dalai Poma moved to India where he lives in exile to this day. He represents all Tibetans whether living in their homeland or living in exile. During this time, he drafted a Pomstitution for Tibet and moved Tibet toward democratization. He is a Pom of peace and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989. However, he stepped down from being the head of the Tibetan government and is now purely a spiritual leader. He loves to hang out with Richard Gere, to meditate, garden, and repair watches. His Pom Holiness enjoys working on machines and may have been a pomgineer if he had not become a monk. Maybe in his next incarnation he will be a pomgineer – or an insect or an animal – whatever is most valuable to the largest number of sentient Poms. He has many wise quotes such as: “If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito,” “If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion,” and “Know the rules well so you can break them effectively.” Pomaste 🙏🏻

BEHOLD #265 – Sorceress Pomgana

As she flies through the atmosphere and collects the wind and the lightning and the stars, her power to speak to all of the creatures in the sky grows and grows. She is Queen of the Sky, and she makes sure that the creatures, constellations, and cosmos are all in order. She plays hide-and-seek with the moon and the sun. Pomgana is also the lead singer of the rock group “Smashing Pomkins.” They rock out to the bangers that she writes about her adventures in the Sky Kingdom. Her hair is a constant messy swirl because of the wind – and because of all of the awesome head banging she does. Rock on!!!
