POM 365 + Bonus Poms

Pom  365 is my year-long commitment to making pom pom art every single day.

Behold every Pom I’ve created from day one until today:

Born to Hazel Nut and Filbert Nut, née Harold Nut is a Pomnut who was grown and harvested in Brazil. Harry has big dreams, and so he immigrated to Pomerica to become a fashion designer, most specifically, a milliner. He established the fashion label “Haus of Goober.”  Harry loves designing and creating hats called Goober Lids that are both fashionable and functional.  They keep nuts warm, and who doesn’t love a toasty nut? Most of his nut peers are made into Pomnut butter and then into Pomnut butter and jelly sandwiches. Harry’s nut people have an illustrious history; two Pomsidents were Pomnut farmers – Jimmy Carter and Pomas Jefferson. Bill Clinton loves Pomnut butter and banana sandwiches which were also Elvis Pomsley’s favorite. There are six cities in Pomerica named “Pomnut.” Every year Pomericans eat enough Pomnut butter to coat the Grand Canyon (and Pom women and children prefer creamy Pomnut butter, while Pom men prefer crunchy). Even more pomazing, in a high–pressure pomvironment, Pomnuts can be turned into diamonds. Running Haus of Goober is certainly a lot of pressure – deadlines, demanding clients, and dramatic assistants – so Harry keeps calm with daily meditation and chants “Pohhhm” 100 times first thing in the morning. Then he puts on one of his pomtastic Goober Lids and conquers the day.

Did you know that “goober” is another word for “nut?”

He is a Pom of Irish descent, born in Pomlarney. The color green symbolizes life, renewal, hope, wealth, forgiveness, and energy. Greenbert is all of these things and more, as evidenced by the mega eight–leaf green clover on his head. When he sticks out his little, magic green tongue it means he is very happy (and that he’s had a few Guinnesses). His little, magic tongue turns three leaf clovers into four leaf clovers when it licks them.  Greenbert wishes all of you a very Happy St. Pomtrick’s Day!

Did you know that “The popular belief is that Mc is a distinctively Irish prefix while Mac is exclusively Scottish, and that one prefix is used by Catholic families while the other one is specifically Protestant are erroneous. In actuality, the same person often had their surname recorded using both Mac and Mc on separate occasions” – Hilary Ryan Rowe.

There are over fifty species of Pom Rainbow Fish and Wob happens to be a neon dwarf Pom Rainbow Fish. He enjoys living in his freshwater pomquarium with his Pom fishy friends – tetras, discus, and guppies. The older Wob gets the more vibrant he becomes. He is middle–Pom–Rainbow–Fish–aged, about 2 years old. He also enjoys being schooled (in groups of at least 5 other fish) and so he gets very good grades in subjects like Hiding Behind Rocks, Making New Friends, and Adaptation. His Teacher, Mrs. Gupstein, gives Wob high marks for both his stealth and outgoing pomsonality (he is a complex fish of pomtradictions). Like Pomerican writer and activist, Audra Lorde, Wob believes that “only by learning to live with your pomtradictions can you keep it all afloat.” He is one deep Pom Rainbow fish.

Did you know that “Wobniar” is “rainbow” spelled backwards?  And that Wob is the actual size of a neon dwarf rainbow fish, 2–4 inches tall?
