POM 365 + Bonus Poms

Pom  365 is my year-long commitment to making pom pom art every single day.

Behold every Pom I’ve created from day one until today:

Originally from the Himalayan Mountains, he is also called a “Yeti” and he is known as “Bigfoot” in western culture. The name “Apominable Snowpom” was coined in 1921 by Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Howard-Bury when he was leading a reconnaissance mission on Mt. Pomerest. He found tracks of a “wild man of the snows” or “snow bear” or “snowman” (in Tibetan language) at about 21,000 feet. The Yeti was part of pre-Buddhist belief of Tibetan people who worshipped a “Glacier Being.” The search for the Yeti was at its height in the 1950s and 60s with adventurers Tom Slick, Carlton Coon, and Sir Edmund Hillary. Theories about the Apominable Snowpom peg him as various types of bears, a langur monkey, or a mythical creature. He has starred in many films including “Monsters, Inc.,” “Yeti: A Love Story,” and “The Werepom and the Yeti.” Pictured here with his micro Pom friend, Abrapom Lincoln, he is also good friends with his co–star, Helldog the Werepom. The Apominable Snowpom is not a size queen when it comes to his friends. He and Helldog like to hang out together under the light of the full moon in places with very tall trees since they are both towering giants of magical and mythical proportions – and they invite Abrapom to come and play Pom Rummy with them every Friday night.

Pomthusiasm is a feeling of being very interested or excited in something. It is related to playfulness, optimism, and high energy. Orange is the color of Pomthusiasm and Quistina has very large quantities of it. So, she spends her time as the mascot for the Pomsadena Oranges, a very high energy soccer team. She runs around the field and gets all of the Poms in the stands up on their feet and pomthusiastically cheering – Go Oranges, go!!!

The Western Zodipom originated in Babylon Pomstrology. Each sign is named after a pomstellation the sun annually moves through while crossing the sky. It is divided into 12 sections or “houses” which make up the horoscope. The twelve signs of the Zodipom are: Aries (the Ram), Taurus (the Bull), Gemini (the Twins), Cancer (the Crab), Leo (the Lion), Virgo (the Maiden), Libra (the Scales), Scorpio (the Scorpion), Sagittarius (the Archer or Centaur), Capricorn (the Goat), Aquarius (the Water Bearer), and Pices (the Fish). There is also Chinese Pomstrology and their 12 Zodipom signs are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. Each of the signs represent characteristics and modes of expression. A Pom’s sign is based on the day they were born. The Zodipom is a very complex system, and it also includes the sun, the moon, and the Equinoxes. In the Pom world it is highly accurate, and so virtually all Poms introduce themselves to each other by saying, “Hey there, Pom stuff – What’s your sign?”
