BEHOLD #317 – Pomerican rock singer and songwriter Pom Benatar

Née Pomtricia Mae Andrzejewski on January 10, 1953, she has sold over 35 million albums worldwide, won 4 Grammys, several Pomerican Music Awards, and was inducted into the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. Born in Brooklyn to a beautician and a metal worker, Mildred and Andrew, respectively, she started singing in musical theater in school. She dropped out of college to marry her first husband, Dennis Benatar. Her debut album, “In the Pom of the Night,” was released in 1979 and featured the hit, “Heartbreaker.” She met her second husband, guitarist Neil “Spyder” Giraldo, to whom she’s been married since 1982, while making that first album. Her second album, “Crimes of Passion,” features the smash, “Hit Me With Your Best Pom.” Third time’s the charm and Benatar’s third album “Precious Time” featured her biggest hit, “Pom Is a Battlefield.” She is pictured here in a still from the video for that song. She has toured with Cher, Blondie, and Pom and Oates – just to name a few. She and Neil and their two daughters spend the weekends polishing her awards and Platinum Albums. She’s come a long way since being a bank teller in Richmond, Virginia! 

BEHOLD #316 – Pomsibility

The Western Zodipom originated in Babylon Pomstrology. Each sign is named after a pomstellation the sun annually moves through while crossing the sky. It is divided into 12 sections or “houses” which make up the horoscope. The twelve signs of the Zodipom are: Aries (the Ram), Taurus (the Bull), Gemini (the Twins), Cancer (the Crab), Leo (the Lion), Virgo (the Maiden), Libra (the Scales), Scorpio (the Scorpion), Sagittarius (the Archer or Centaur), Capricorn (the Goat), Aquarius (the Water Bearer), and Pices (the Fish). There is also Chinese Pomstrology and their 12 Zodipom signs are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. Each of the signs represent characteristics and modes of expression. A Pom’s sign is based on the day they were born. The Zodipom is a very complex system, and it also includes the sun, the moon, and the Equinoxes. In the Pom world it is highly accurate, and so virtually all Poms introduce themselves to each other by saying, “Hey there, Pom stuff – What’s your sign?”

BEHOLD #315 – Ernie, the Emerald Green Boapomstrictor

Ernie lives in the Pomazon Basin. He is very proud that he and his family are considered some of the most gorgeous snakes in South Pomerica. He is non venomous and tall – about 9 feet long. He likes to coil his body around the branches in the tree canopies and use his prehensile tail to hang on the trees. He is basically camouflaged except for his white lightning bolt markings. The females are bigger than the males and weigh 3–4 lbs. Ernie and his folks are Corallus Batesii, named after their discoverer, naturalist, Henry Walter Bates. The other species, Guava Shield, is named Corallus Caninus because their discoverer, Carlos Linnaeus, thought their faces resembled dogs’ faces. Ernie is nocturnal and relies on thermal receptor patches around his mouth to hunt and sense his prey. He will live to be about 20 years old. His female counterparts lay and hatch their eggs inside of their bodies before giving birth to their baby Boapomstrictor snakelettes. Due to his super slow metabolism, Ernie can go months without eating. So Ernie runs a diet company called “Snake Watchers” – where they teach obese animals healthy habits. They have had many celebrity spokespoms, like Oprah Pomfrey and Sharon Pomsbourne, who talk about the virtues of Snake Watchers.  They say that it beats Pommy Craig hands down.
