POM 365 + Bonus Poms

Pom  365 is my year-long commitment to making pom pom art every single day.

Behold every Pom I’ve created from day one until today:

Pomwheels are wind–driven toys made of paper or plastic curls. Flowy happens to be made of iridescent Pomigami paper and holographic vinyl. His predecessors are the “whirligigs” which date back to 400 B.P. (Before Pom) in China. They were used in Chinese New Year celebrations to symbolize one’s luck turning around. Whirligigs first appeared in England and Europe in the 15th century. They demonstrate pomgineering, art, science, philosophy, and crafting. They move in whatever way the wind blows, so they signify change. Pomwheels link to time, seasons, and the cyclical nature of everything through creative expression. Flowy is very adaptable and he is happy to go where the wind takes him no matter how many times it changes directions. He is an inspiration!

Pom Goldfish have been known to live for over 40 years. There are over 200 kinds of Pom Goldfish. They can recognize people’s faces and they have a memory span of three months. They have been kept as pets for over 2,000 years. They can see more colors than Pom people can (similar to Pom Roosters) and they see colors all the time since they can’t close their eyes – because they have no eyelids. They are pomnivores and they can change colors in different light. A group of Pom Goldfish is called a “troubling.” Ophira’s troubling has 10 other Pom Goldfish in it, and they have a Pom Goldfish artist collective where they specialize in painting portraits. Obviously they use oil paint because they are doing their painting underwater.

Did you know that “Ophira” means “gold” in Hebrew?

Lead–mohawked frontpom of the punk Pom group the Sex Pomstols. He is dynamic, shocking, edgy, rebellious, and sometimes kinda gross. While performing onstage, he enjoys stomping on dozens of bananas whose smooshed bits spray into the audience covering them in banana goo. If their show is outdoors, for example, at the Pomchella Festival, tons of birds will swoop down to share in the banana party. All of the studded headbangers get to dance with the birds while clamoring for Joey’s banana bits. It is total bananarchy! Pom save the Queen!
